My Firefox Add-ons so far.

If you’re a Firefox user you should be very familiar with Add-ons. Here is a screen shot of the ones I use and absolutely love.

My Firefox add-ons

1. Adblock Filterset.G and Adblock Plus: These two add-ons make surfing an absolute pleasure. No ad splash screens, no huge banners, no AdSense, nothing. Yes, there is some questionable reasons for using this, but honestly some sites are just unbearable without these add-ons.

2. Forecastfox: When you’re on the road a lot, it is necessary to check the weather conditions of different places when booking travel. So, that’s where this add-on comes in to play. It takes two clicks to have instant weather updates or any city in your profile. And adding a new profile is quick and easy. Absolutely love it and use it a lot.

3. Greasemonkey: Google this add-on, this is a must for people who like to play around with the way some websites behave. The learning curve is steep, but once you’ve got it, it’s very easy.

4. Mouse Gestures: Being able to surf the web without moving your hand from the mouse make life so much simpler. You want to go back a page, right click, hold, and move mouse back. Reload page, right click, hold, up/down, etc.

5. SwitchProxy Too: My laptop ends up in multiple different networks, which all have different requirements when accessing the internet. Some times I need a proxy, some times I need a user name and password, SwitchProxy makes going from profile to profile quick and easy.

6. Tab Mix Plus: I usually have around 4-5 tabs open at any one time, this add-on allows me to configure how the tabs will function, how they close, how you can cntrl-tab over, etc.

7. WebMail Notifier: This add-on checks all of my email accounts and lets me know when there is email. currently I have it set to check Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail. Absolutely love it.

Domain Registration

So, I received a notice from my domain registrar letting me know that two of my domains were about to expire. So, I did what all sensible domain owners would do and renew them. The process went by relatively smoothly, if it wasn’t for the myriad of “opportunities” I had to buy other “exciting” and “perfect” domains for me. Seriously, why do I have to see all these available domains when I have what I want? If you’re curious about who I’m talking about, I’m sure you can guess. GoDaddy.com. Yes, I told them ocho cinco sent me.

Bloc Party & Interpol Concerts

Ladies and gentlemen, there has not been a better show on earth in the past week as there was in Dallas, Texas.First, Bloc Party rolled into town bringing with them their amazing British sound. Even though I could not understand a single word he said between songs, their music is amazing. So much energy and crowd participation. They played all their hits and pretty much everything from Silent Alarm. Amazing!

Second, was Interpol. The only drawback of this show was the first band. This group from California called Liars. Ok, seriously, what was the Liars lead singer on? Acid? LSD? PCP? Crack? Regardless, the guy needs to tone down the spirit fingers and the vocal synth and turn up the volume in his mic. Horrible performance. However, Interpol was the total opposite. Great sound, lights, I can not stress this enough, check them out. You will not be disappointed.

"I haven’t slept for two days
I’ve bathed in nothing but sweat
And I’ve made hallways
Scenes for things to regret"

The Flu, the Aggies, and Banana Buttermilk Pancakes

It has been an interesting two weeks. Last week I spent most of it in bed. I came down with the flu and it was the worst I’ve ever had it. I tried to battle through it on Monday and Tuesday, which was not a good idea. Then on Wednesday and Thursday I didn’t get out of bed. I literally slept for 48 hours. I didn’t eat anything at all, just water and the occasional nature call would get me out of bed. Then on Friday I had 3 soccer games. Usually, I’m one to skip a game if I’m under the weather, however these were championship games and I had to play. :-) Needless to say, I did pretty good and we won 2 out of 3. Good times. However, I paid for it for the next two days. It probably was not until this week where I started feeling 100%. Now, I’m not one to take a lot of drugs, butI’m seriously considering taking the flu shot this year. My mother has always told me to take for years, however I just don’t see why you should take medicine when you’re not sick. However, after my last episode I’m going to give it a try and see how it goes.

Now, I’ve been on a banana buttermilk pancake kick. I love this stuff and I must say, I make some pretty mean pancakes. I might post my recipe.

Finally, the Aggies were embarrassed by Miami last night (09/20/2007). I didn’t get a chance to watch it, I was doing some volunteer work. However, I was getting text message updates from a couple of people at the game and around Texas. I think it’s time for a change of coaching staff. Regardless… We are the Aggies, the Aggies are we…

Interpol – My Chemistry

I still do not understand why these guys do not get a lot more airplay. They completely rock! Regardless, this is from the latest album "Our Love to Admire", which is absolutely great. Like most of their songs it’s about love and no love. However, if you look deeper perhaps you might see some sort of unhealthy obsession. Perhaps fleeting passage about a ‘chemical’ addiction.

This is why I love these guys and I’ll bee seeing them in concert in about 2 weeks.

~davidI haven’t slept for two days
I’ve bathed in nothing but sweat
And I’ve made hallways
Scenes for things to regret
My friends they come
And the lines they go by
Tonight I’m gonna rest my chemistry
Tonight I’m gonna rest my chemistry

I live my life in cocaine
Just some rage and three kinds of yes
And I’ve made stairways
Such scenes for things that I regret
Oh, those days in the sun
They bring a tear to my eye
Tonight I’m gonna rest my chemistry
Tonight I’m gonna rest my chemistry

But you’re so young
You’re so young
You look in my eyes
You’re so young, so sweet, so surprised

I see a sign, it says

I’ve been wearing my clothes inside out!

So, since I’ve been at home for about 5 weeks now I’ve made sure to hit the gym in the mornings. I wake up at 5 AM, make a light breakfast, and walk to the gym. Now, this is the second time where I get home and notice that I’m wearing an article of clothing incorrectly. Two weeks ago it was a shirt which was on backwards (front to back). Today, it was a pair of shorts. Now, I don’t know how this happens, but I have a feeling it has something to do with that foggy feeling you have when you first get out of bed. Alas, I think I need to invest in nothing but reversible work out clothes.

When there is nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.

The song title is Your Ex-Lover is Dead by the Stars, however there is a reworked piece of this song which starts with the title of this article. I found it both funny and telling of the song

Lyrically and musically this is an amazing song, it has been out for a few years, but has never really had any airplay. I think the lyrics speak for themselves.

God, that was strange to see you again
Introduced by a friend of a friend
Smiled and said, "Yes, I think we’ve met before"
In that instant it started to pour

Captured a taxi despite all the rain
We drove in silence across Pont Champlain
And all of that time you thought I was sad
I was trying to remember your name

This scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin
You tried to reach deep but you couldn’t get in
And now you’re outside me, you see all the beauty
Repent all your sin

Nothing but time and a face that you’ll lose
I chose to feel it and you couldn’t choose
I’ll write you a postcard I’ll send you the news
From the house down the road from real love

Live through this and you won’t look back.
Live through this and you won’t look back.
Live through this and you won’t look back.

There’s one thing I have to say so I’ll be brave.
You were what I wanted I gave what I gave.
I’m not sorry I met you.
I’m not sorry it’s over.
I’m not sorry there’s nothing to say.
I’m not sorry there’s nothing to say.
I’m not sorry there’s nothing to say.

Microsoft’s SyncToy in Windows XP 64

Well, for those of you struggling trying to get SyncToy working on Windows XP 64, here is the fix.

Download custsat.dll version 9.0.3790.2428 and replace it in the SynToy install directory (usually C:Documents and Settings<usernam>Local SettingsApplication DataSyncToy)

Cheers.
