Archive for October 2008

Edit:
So, talking to a friend, I’ve realized that I missed one year when doing my calculations, my site has been in operation for 6 years. :-)

Original Post:

Wow. I was doing some maintenance on my site (see previous story) and noticed that my first entry was in Oct 13 of 2003. Yes, six years ago! I really can’t believe I’ve kept up with it this long. So, here’s to another 5 years. By the way, this was my very first posting.

So things are starting pretty slow, expect very little until my life slows down some, or I miraculously discover that I can slow down time, or travel back in time…

Perhaps you will be waiting for a while in order for this site to be any where near completion.

Five years later and life has not slowed down and I have not figured out how to travel back in time. :(

I need to come up with an easier way to update WP, although it only take 10 minutes, it really could be streamlined.

This song is amazing. The duet between Martha Wainwright and the lead singer from Snow Patrol is great. My favorite part is the first verse specially if you’ve ever had a long distance relationship and you long for that loved one.

I find the map and draw a straight line
Over rivers, farms, and state lines
The distance from ‘A’ to where you’d be
It’s only finger-lengths that I see
I touch the place where I’d find your face
My finger in creases of distant dark places

I hang my coat up in the first bar
There is no peace that I’ve found so far
The laughter penetrates my silence
As drunken men find flaws in science

Their words mostly noises
Ghosts with just voices
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me

I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
I, I pray that something picks me up
And sets me down in your warm arms

After I have travelled so far
We’d set the fire to the third bar
We’d share each other like an island
Until exhausted, close our eyelids
And dreaming, pick up from
The last place we left off
Your soft skin is weeping
A joy you can’t keep in

I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
And I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

I’m miles from where you are,
I lay down on the cold ground
and I, I pray that something picks me up
and sets me down in your warm arms

So, it seems that when recording his latest albums, Ben Folds, decided to record a second album with the same song titles, but fake songs and leak that on the p2p networks. While this does seem a bit funny, it really doesn’t have much point. Either way, it was interesting to hear some of the fake and real songs played right next to each other. All in all, Ben had a lot of energy and the concert had a pretty good vibe. Missy Higgins opened for him and she had a great voice and some good tunes… reminded me a bit of Fiona Apple.

Some pics from the show.

I can’t believe it’s been close to a month since I last posted anything on my website. My new project is really kicking my butt, but I’m learning a ton and it will be a multi-million dollar solutions once everything is said and done. Regardless, it is not all work and no fun in Columbus, OH. This past week, Death Cab for Cutie, strolled into town and rocked hard. This was by far better than the DFW show I had seen a few months ago. The sound was so much better and the venue was so much cozier. A great show.

We had a great view, but my camera didn’t do any justice to the band.
